Gilardino Bawa Italia ke Afsel

Gol penyerang pengganti Alberto Gilardino di penghujung laga membawa Italia lolos ke Piala Dunia 2010 setelah menahan imbang tuan rumah Republik Irlandia 2-2 pada lanjutan babak kualifikasi Grup 8 zona Eropa, Sabtu (10/10).
Tambahan satu angka itu sudah cukup membawa Italia memastikan diri menjuarai Grup 8 yang berarti tiket ke Afrika Selatan dengan mengemas 21 angka, unggul empat poin dari Irlandia.

Utang Glazzer bikin MU terancam krisis keuangan

Kekhawatiran terjadinya krisis keuangan di MU diutarakan mantan presiden Martin Edwards. Meski sudah meraih hat-trick gelar Premier League serta dua kali beruntun lolos ke final Liga Champions, yang membuat MU dapat banyak pemasukan, ancaman krisis keuangan tetap tak dapat dihindari.
Adalah besarnya utang Glazer yang membuat 'Setan Merah' berdiri di ambang krisis. Dailymail menyebut kalau pengusaha asal Amerika Serikat itu masih punya kewajiban membayar utang sebesar hampir 700 juta poundsterling (sekitar Rp 10,6 triliun).
"Pihak klub tidak memegang kendali, keluarga (Glazer) yang pegang kendali dalam hal utang. Saya tahu dari mana datangnya kekhawatiran yang dirasakan fans. Saya tak mau menuduh karena hingga kini mereka berlaku dengan baik, mendukung sang manajer," sahut Edwards.
Keluarga Glazer membeli The Red Devils dengan harga 828 juta poundsterling (Rp 12,5 triliun) tahun 2005 lalu. Dari jumlah tersebut, 556 juta poundsterling di antaranya merupakan uang pinjaman. Jumlah utang tersebut terus berkembang menjadi 699 juta poundsterling (8,4 triliun) hingga akhir Juni 2009 lalu.
Proses akuisisi yang menggunakan uang pinjaman tersebut sempat mengundang protes banyak fans MU. Apalagi muncul kecurigaan kalau keluarga Glazer nantinya menjual MU demi mendapat keuntungan. Dan saat Glazer pergi itulah krisis keuangan bisa menerpa "Setan Merah".
"Waktu akan mengungkap semua. Masa-masa sulit akan datang saat mereka pergi. Apakah mereka mengendalikan klub dengan utang atau hanya akan menjual klub demi mendapat keuntungan karena bukankah pada hal-hal seperti itu mereka tertarik?," pungkas orang yang merekrut Sir Alex Ferguson sebagai manajer di tahun 1986 itu. Empat negara, yakni Portugal, Prancis, Rusia dan Turki tengah berharap-harap cemas menantikan lanjutan kualifikasi pada Sabtu (10/10/2009) ini dan pada Rabu (14/10) mendatang.
Portugal boleh disebut sebagai negara kuat dengan kiprah terburuk sejauh ini. Dengan para pemain bintang seperti Cristiano Ronaldo dan Ricardo Carvalho, Seleccao nyaris pasti tidak bisa lolos ke Afrika Selatan secara otomatis.
Tergabung di Grup 1, Portugal saat ini terpuruk di posisi tiga dengan 13 angka; lima angka di belakang Denmark dan dua di bawah Swedia. Mengingat lolos otomatis nyaris mustahil, hal terakhir yang harus diselamatkan pasukan Carlos Queiroz adalah tiket fase play-off.
Padahal, pada Sabtu (10/10), Portugal harus berhadapan dengan salah satu pesaingnya menuju play-off, Hongaria. Kemenangan, hanya kemenangan, yang akan menjaga nyala api harapan Portugal.
Yang juga genting adalah Turki yang saat ini terdampar di posisi tiga Grup 5, berselisih empat angka di belakang peringkat dua, Bosnia Herzegovina. Dua negara ini tinggal memperebutkan tiket play-off karena tiket langsung sudah di tangan Spanyol.
